Oksana Masters Goes Gold - Twice

At the Tokyo Paralympic Games, Masters wins double gold on custom composite bike

Tokyo: Composite Builders, an advanced composites company, is excited to congratulate Oksana Masters on her second gold medal of the Tokyo Paralympic Games on their custom composite bike.

Masters, a veteran of Summer and Winter Olympic games, cycled her way to gold in the hand-cycle time trial and hand-cycle road race. The elite athlete, along with other Paralympians, has been working with Composite Builders since 2015 to develop custom equipment for her competitions.

From initial meetings with Masters to develop drawings to testing out the bike in the parking lot, the custom equipment was designed and produced in Holland, MI at the Composite Builders’ headquarters. Led by ‘team lead’ Rock MacInnes, the bike was designed to erase Masters’ pain points and ensure the equipment fit with Masters. Using standard prepreg carbon, creating a bike to fuse athlete and machine, the Paralympian made use of numerous test runs and races. Based on the same standard other pro cyclists use, Masters rode the bike to two gold medal victories in Tokyo.

Brain MacInnes, founder and CEO, states “Each athlete has different needs and goals. We work with all of our athletes directly which allows us to develop a partnership to build the best equipment we can. There’s nothing quite like watching Oksana, officially crowned the fastest in the world, bring home two gold medals on our bike.”
