Composite Builders is an organization of professionals who have a passion for speed and high-performance vehicles. Collectively our team brings over six decades of experience in the manufacture and construction of composite components. Beyond advance composite applications, our leaders come from diverse disciplines; business and finance, data control and processes, machine, tool and die, boat build administration, and project management.
Yacht Racing
Composite Builders opened it’s doors after over 30 years of grand-prix yacht racing. As a professional America’s Cup sailor, founder Brian MacInnes, has competed and worked amongst the world’s top boat builders and racing crews. Among his accomplishments are four America’s Cup campaigns with the Oracle Racing team resulting in two USA victories. As a highly accomplished sailor, Brian was also a member of two winning Volvo Ocean Race teams, ABN Amro and Team Ericson, and acted as the long-standing manager of the successful Windquest program, earning recognition in the Maxi, One Design 48 and 50 foot classes.
Managing and Designing
Brian’s sailing career has been one of involvement and management of the design and building process for many of the yachts he has competed with. With the intensity of these high-performance vessels Brian has developed a strong background in the construction of tooling, lamination of structures and their components, performance testing, and system maintenance. He has also undertaken the study of polymers utilized within the aerospace industry. This experience and material knowledge has allowed Composite Builders to expand into a variety of new industries.
